Background: My friend is interning at a rather prominent advertising firm, who's not paying her an allowance for anything. She spends an average of RM15 a day on food, petrol and parking. She also wants to quit, but apparently this internship counts as her practical, which is worth 4 credit hours, which we were supposed to do in semester 4, after we've taken our specialisation subjects, not before. I think someone got shafted.
It's her second week interning now, and she's screaming bloody murder. She has 6 more weeks to go, and was saying she wouldn't make it. While chatting...

So, tonight's blog. Actually, I was writing another blogpost about dogs when Opera closed. I never take advice and compose in notepad first, and I don't feel like re-writing the same thing again, so this is sort of a filler post.

Anyway, a BMW or Benz is a better choice if your friend ever wants to get knocked down. Especially if the driver is a hot young man. If they're driving kancils it's obvious they're not going to be able to pay for your medical bills or settle for anything when you sue them. Besides, if she manages to snag the guy's heart, she doesn't even need that intern job anymore.

heyo! I'm wondering, how come there aren't any allowances for intership! isn't tht a tad bit ridiculous? (not even minimum wages?!)

Yeah, ridiculous. But then my friend never asked for it I think, so it's also partly her fault la. Parking saja already RM100 per month!! OMG!!
Ridiculous perhaps... But very real... These days, it's hard to get any allowance or salary for an internship... A few years back, I managed to get RM400 a month, but these days you get amounts like RM200, RM100, or even RM0... But then, just tahan lah... If you don't do it, even worse... To quit would be like running away... It's not like they're paying RM0 for a full-time job... Because the truth is, nobody really wants to take trainees or interns much anymore... So if you can even get in, you're already very lucky... But then again, it might also depend a bit on what field you are in... But either way, internship may be bad, but it isn't getting better either way, so when I was at it (did it twice, once for engineering, and once for computer science), I learned to just suck it up... In the end, what matters is that you get what you have to do done, and learn to get along with staff well while you're at it... That's what the internship is for... Not for money, but for the experience... Umm, I just realized I've been lecturing, so I'll stop here... :p
